Fishery Rules
1. The management
reserve the right to expel or refuse admission to any person
as and when they deem is necessary.
2. All persons visiting
the fishery do so at their own risk and Bishop Auckland
and District Angling Club accept no responsibility
for any injury, loss or damage to persons or property howsoever
caused.
3. Any person found
fishing outside the permitted hours or taking more fish
than the current permit allows, or taking fish by illegal
methods WILL BE PROSECUTED.
4. The Management,
any Bishop Auckland and District Angling Club official,
Club Appointed bailiff, EA bailiff or Police Officer shall be
allowed to examine any equipment, bag, clothing or vehicle
of anyone visiting the fishery.
5. The season shall be determined by the summer and winter
closing hours..

Anglers must possess a current EA rod licence as well as
a permit to fish these waters.
7. Fishing commences
at 8.00am and finishes at dusk or at the discretion of the
fishery staff. ( 9.00am
until 4.00pm winter hours).

Only ONE rod to be made up at any one time. Fishing is by
fly only using generally accepted tackle and techniques.
Only ONE fly larger than standard size 10 to be attached
to the leader. TWO flies size 10 or smaller may be used.
Only flies dressed on single point hooks are allowed. THESE
MUST BE BARBLESS (conventional hooks with the barb
removed are acceptable). Double, treble and multi-hook flies
are forbidden. POPPERS, FLICKER SPOONS and
BOOBY NYMPHS ARE FORBIDDEN. All fish caught
must be handled gently, those fish we are to be kept must
be dispatched quickly. Anglers who mishandle fish will be
asked to leave the fishery. No monofilament line or more
than 10lb breaking strain shall be used on the fishery.
Only fly fishing tackle allowed on the fishery-any person
found with any other type of tackle in their possession
will be asked to leave.
9.
Anglers must be equipped with a landing net and priest.
The use of gaffs and keep-nets are forbidden. ALL
FISH MUST BE LANDED WITH A LANDING NET.
10.
BAG LIMIT-3 FISH, ALL BROWN TROUT TO BE RETURNED.
11.
ANGLERS ON A FULL PERMIT MUST KILL THE FIRST FISH
CAUGHT.
12. Fishing must
cease once the bag limit is complete. Further permits may
be purchased uf available.
13. No more than
5 fish per angler (full permit angler) to be caught and
returned in a days fishing. Any fish which shows signs of
bleeding or stress must be killed and count as part of the
limit.
14. Details of all
fish caught (including those returned) must be entered on
the catch return sheet. This includes all returns.
15.
WADING IS NOT ALLOWED-IT IS DANGEROUS.
Waders if worn must be folded down.
16. The following
are specifically excluded from the fishery-guns, dogs, radios
and non-fishing visitors.
17. Vehicles are
restricted to the car park and must keep to the access road.
18. Anglers have
access to the immediate ground around the shoreline of the
fishery they must not wander across the pasture land or
disturb grazing animals.
19. Anglers are expected
to behave in a gentlemanly manner. They must not deposit
litter, disturb or feed wildlife or behave in any manner
detrimental to the fishery, fishing or sport of other anglers.
20.
DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE-ANYONE SEEN THROWING ANYTHING
INTO THE FISHERY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
21.
MONOFILAMENT NYLON MUST NOT BE DISCARDED-IT IS DANGEROUS
TO BOTH WILDLIFE AND FARM STOCK-CUT INTO SMALL LENGTHS OR
TAKE IT HOME.
